There are three new developments:

1. We have created a new website which is a Bangkok Guide for specific places to go, and things to do, at www.ssBKK.com . We programmed this website from July thru October, and are starting to load it up with new places. Please help us. It has more than 100 places on it as of early November, and it will grow quickly over the next few months.

2. We have started a new Thailand forum / web board in early November 2007, and are about to start advertising it. Please go ahead and start to participate.

3. Thailand Guru is being reprogrammed. Please understand that this started as a hobby in the 1990s, and the whole website was manually created. It has grown immensely and just gotten too big, whereby it took too long to add articles and change content, so I had a custom "Content Management System (CMS)" created to manage additions and changes. The programming has been completed, but I still need another week or so to get the text content and menu fully converted to the new system. After this has been completed, it will be so much easier for me to add text content and move things around. I can focus on text content and forget about the programming, since so much has been automated now. The website will look nearly the same, but it will actually be a whole new program behind the scenes.

I have hired fulltime staff to support the development of these websites. This is a major commitment, and a break with the past. I previously put a lot of time and effort into my other businesses, but for the rest of 2007 I am totally focussed on Thailand Guru, ssBKK, and the new forum.

The one thing which has held back development of Thailand Guru and these other sites is the programming. Starting around mid-November, the content should start to expand to cover a lot more things, many parts will be updated, and everything will be kept more current day-to-day.

Monday, July 2, Interview with Thailand Guru on BBC World

Yes, that was me on the BBC World News on July second, in a field interview with Bureau Chief Jonathan Head:

A program was airing on July 2, where my interview tour was seen by about 65 million viewers worldwide. It was about the 10 year anniversary of the 1997 Asia Economic Crash in which I gave the BBC World crew a tour of the worse hit project, Muang Thong Thani (see www.MTTBKK.com for Muang Thong Thani, BangKoK). After watching it a few times day and night :-), I eventually got these stills from my digital camera pointed towards my TV. The caption for Serena Property Co., Ltd., is in reference to the company I co-founded with my Thai wife and named after our daughter Serena, in which we are co-Directors, my primary occupation. I have worked in property development since 1995.

The menu at the top left should guide you quickly, or choose the Search selection here or on the floating menu. The next time you waste a lot of time (and/or money) trying to get something basic accomplished in Thailand, and after you consider the value of your time and productivity, then you may decide to contact us.

Notably, we see a lot of inaccurate information on the internet, some of the inaccuracies repeated in many places to give the same wrong information. It is apparent that sometime, somewhere, some respected expat "authority" gave inaccurate information which was subsequently repeated by other people until it became a widely believed "urban legend" -- it seemed to be coming from multiple sources but maybe was just copied from the original "authority". Many things you read on the English language internet, you should verify from Thai authority sources. Some is outdated, too.

On our Thailand Guru website, you will sometimes need to excuse the lack of artwork, because we have been focusing on text content and research, which is more important. (Don't you wish more websites had better substance?)
